What Savings are Available for Mini-Splits and Heat Pumps through Rhode Island Energy?
Rhode Island residents who install heat pumps may be eligible for up to $10,000 in rebates, depending on how much of your home will be affected.
Enhanced and Standard Rebates
- Enhanced rebates — Electric Heating Customers: Enjoy year-round savings by switching to high-efficiency heat pumps and access enhanced savings.
- Standard rebates — National Gas Heating Customers: Rhode Island Energy natural gas customers can qualify for the standard incentive of up to $350/ton on central and mini-split heat pump equipment.
0% Interest Loans on up to $15,000
You could qualify for a loan of up to $25,000 toward qualified energy efficient home improvements In order to make this efficiency upgrade even more affordable, Rhode Island homeowners can also access additional financing options for heating customers upgrading to heat pumps. Qualified homeowners are eligible for up to $15,000 for approved high-efficiency heat pump systems displacing electric or natural gas heating. By investing now, you can harness the savings to pay off the 7-year loan. How do I access the heat pump savings offered through Rhode Island Energy?
You can research, comply with and submit the rebate requirements and forms on your own. (Option A) but if you decide to install a heat pump system through Coastal Energy Services, you can skip right to Option B.
Option A
For Standard Rebates, determine if your system is ducted or ductless.

Ensure the system meets rebate requirements: SEER ≥ 15, HSPF ≥ 9
